Aug 06, 2013 Use the Keyboard Viewer to test whether the keyboard keys are responding correctly when they are pressed. Choose System Preferences from the Apple ( ) menu, then choose Language & Text from the View menu (or International from the View menu in Mac OS X v10.5 or earlier).

Macbook pro utilities. I have apple keyboard model A1243 & EMC # 2171. This was a hand me down gift from my sister a few years ago, ( with the computer also of course. It is OS X YOSEMITE with a 20inch screen & the nicest one I ever had even if it's considered old. That's ok cuz I'm old too!) but I just started using it about a year ago. The num lock was evidently 'off' cuz I couldn't use the ten key pad. I always use the pad. For some reason it took me awhile to research this problem but when I did begin my research I quickly got the answer & HURRAY my 10 key pad num lock on was working. Unfortunately I failed to jot down the simple way to turn on the num lock. Well it has happened again. Somehow I have managed to 'turn off' the num lock. This time though I am having a heck of a time coming up with help from several different avenues. Everything from Apple site directly, I have googled my question, Ask.com even several links from each place i tried.
Almost every place I went there were several people that had the same answer. The CLEAR button on the num pad will turn on the num lock. Well not on my keyboard. And I remembered the last time it involved more than that. Like either the OPTION or COMMAND button was involved + another key???

I have never owned an Apple product before, not for any reason except maybe all my jobs had the other one, lol. I am a retired accounting clerk. I am just getting to really learn & enjoy my Apple but it is taking me awhile. I am good at reading tutorials or help topics but I sure would love some kind of support book or manual to help me along. BUT FOR NOW PLZ TURN MY NUM LOCK KEY ON!
